2 Edmond Memorial hands No

With a healthy point guard in Jordan Woodard, who missed the first game against Midwest City due to a hamstring injury, it was clear the future Sooner made a big difference.

Woodard contributed a team high 22 points and believes this game was the perfect test.

“It was a good measuring stick for us leading to the playoffs,” said Woodard. “I felt like we built some good team chemistry in this game.”

The chemistry was indeed there for the Bulldogs, something the Bombers wish they had.

Midwest City started out 0 for 8 shooting while Edmond Memorial made it onto the scoreboard quick from the start.

The Bombers would tie it back up 4 4 shortly after, but from there the Bulldogs pulled away 14 8 and never looked back.

Beating the states No. 1 team in Class 6A couldn’t be any sweeter could it?

It was for Shaquille Morris. The big senior had two big dunks in the fourth period and contributed 17 points overall.

But could it still get better than that?

Yes it could.

Thursday night’s win also came on senior night.

“It’s a good way to go out on our floor,” senior Sam Kreutzer said. “The fans were great and it was a fun time, we played great and got the (win).”

Edmond Memorial now holds a 19 2 record after defeating Midwest City, who sits 24 1 and will likely remain ranked No. 1 in Class 6A.

Midwest City will host rival Del City tonight for the Bombers’ Senior Night as they look to end their regular season with a win.

The Bulldogs travel to Moore tonight where they will play at Southmoore against the Sabercats.

A win Friday night would give Edmond Memorial their third straight conference championship, which would be a first according to head coach Shane Cowherd.
